How We Review and Rank VR Sites

Every ranking on Virtual Reality Reports comes from the same weighted rubric. This page explains what each criterion means, which evidence we use, how the score out of 10 is calculated and what can change a ranking. If you only want the results, go straight to our main ranking of VR porn sites.

The scoring rubric

CriterionWeightWhat we look at
Visual quality & encoding25%Published resolutions, frame rates, codecs and file sizes; how trailers and sample clips hold up in a headset
Library depth & variety15%Breadth of studios and categories, how much of the catalog is current versus archive, browsing depth
Streaming & downloads15%Which qualities can be streamed versus downloaded, download limits, player support for 180°/360° layouts
Headset compatibility10%Officially listed devices (standalone, PC VR, phone), app or browser access, passthrough support where relevant
Update frequency10%How often new scenes appear on public release pages over recent months
User experience & navigation10%Search, category and studio filters, how quickly you get from signup to playback in the headset

What each criterion means in practice

Visual quality carries the most weight because it is the thing you notice first in a headset. A higher advertised resolution is not automatically better: bitrate, lens-matched encoding and correct stereo alignment matter just as much, which is why we read format details rather than headline numbers. Our 8K quality guide explains the trade-offs between resolution, bitrate and file size.

Library depth is about useful variety, not a raw scene count. A smaller studio that releases consistently in one style can outscore a large archive that is mostly old, low-resolution material. Streaming and downloads covers the practical side: whether the best quality is available to stream, whether downloads are capped, and whether files play correctly in common VR players.

Compatibility, updates and navigation each account for 10%. We check the device lists a site publishes, look at public release pages to see how often new scenes arrive, and judge how easily a new member can find a category and start watching. Value and policies close the rubric: price only matters relative to what you get, and unclear renewal or cancellation terms always cost points.

Where the evidence comes from

We deliberately avoid quoting exact scene counts, prices or release numbers in rankings. Those figures change often, and a stale number is worse than none. Where a detail matters for your decision, we tell you what to check on the provider's own pages before paying.

How the score out of 10 is calculated

Each criterion is rated from 0 to 10. The rating is multiplied by its weight and the eight results are added together, giving the overall score shown on every site card. When two sites end up with the same score, the one with the higher visual-quality rating ranks first; if they are still level, library depth decides.

How niche rankings differ

Category pages such as feet, MILF or passthrough use the same rubric, but category relevance becomes the first filter. A platform only appears on a niche page if that kind of content is part of what it offers, and its position reflects how well it serves that category rather than its overall score alone. That is why the order on a niche page can differ from the main ranking.

When rankings change

We revisit a ranking when a site changes materially: new resolutions or players, a different pricing or renewal model, changes to download rights, or a shift in how often new scenes are released. Reader reports also trigger a review. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed.

Affiliate links and independence

Some outbound buttons are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you. Commission rates never change a score or a position: a partner that pays more is ranked exactly as it would be otherwise, and sites without an affiliate programme can still rank. The full details are in our affiliate disclosure.
